A brilliant assembly – the children loved it!
Our Christmas assembly had everything: humour, surprise and of course a true retelling of the first Christmas. WOW! What a success! It was a brilliant production, so massive congrat- ulations and thanks to our fabulous script writer, Ruth, for an amazing script.
Our wonderful assembly team took the “live” performance into primary schools across Woking and the surrounding area. It was fantastically well received by staff and pupils alike – well done team, your enthusiasm and delivery, for every single per- formance was epic!
This is typical of the amazing feedback we received:

“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you and your team for a brilliant assembly. The children loved it and we received really good feedback and it was such an uplifting way to start the week and kick off the Christmas period.” – Deputy Headteacher, Goldsworth Primary
The recorded production was also watched by many schools across the area and we have, again, received a lot of positive feedback. A big thank you to Mike for all his hard work producing this fantastic video for us.
“I would like to say thank you for the wonderful Christmas assembly that you sent over. We watched it altogether as a whole school on Monday and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.” – Headteacher, St Lawrence, Chobham
“Thank you for the Christmas assembly – loved the new format!” – Headteacher, Holy Trinity, West End
The team has just presented our Easter assembly run, which brought the story of Easter to life for the primary schools.

Explore Prayer Group

This term we had the privilege of being welcomed into The Hermitage School to run a new club, called Explore. It offers the children an opportunity both to make space in their school day to think about God and to learn more about Him. Bronwen was able to visit the school to invite the children to the new club and tell them all about it. We now have 15 to 20 children each week, and a waiting list to run the club for a different group after Easter.
So far, we have thought about ways to take care of our planet, thanked those who take care of us and thought about turning over a new leaf this spring. It is exciting to watch the children engage with the activities and think deeply about their impact on them. They are beginning to get to know the team and enjoy the opportunity to be listened to.
Do you have time to volunteer with Engage? We are looking for people to join the team at Explore Club. It runs from 12.15 to 13.15 every Wednesday in term time. If you have a passion for talking with young people about faith and related topics, we’d love to hear from you: email us at admin@engagewoking,org
Prayer Meetings
Every term we host a prayer meeting in the chapel at St Andrew’s church. These occasions are a wonderful way to connect with our supporters and pray together for the work of Engage and our community.
Last term we looked at Faith in Matthew 17:14-20. Jesus says: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
We read the Bible passage and everyone who joined us received a small pot with mustard and cress seeds to grow at home. We prayed over the pots, acknowledging that sometimes our efforts or faith feel small, and praying for God to grow them so they have a significant impact on the lives of others. We will grow these seeds together in our homes, remembering God’s work through Engage in our local community and continuing to pray that God will grow our faith and efforts for His Kingdom.
Just as we watch our seeds grow, we can be assured that God is growing our faith and as we harvest our mustard and cress, we remember God’s bountiful harvest and provision.
We would love to welcome you at our next prayer meeting, on Thursday 18th June in the chapel at St Andrews Church, 10.30-11.30am. For more information or to let us know you’ll be there, please email admin@engagewoking.org
