What has Engage been up to?
It has been a busy start to this academic and we are feeling blessed that our work in schools not only continues but the ministry is growing. I am pleased to share that the Engage family has grown as we welcomed Bronwen Hall as our new Schools Worker and Helen Best as our new administrator.
In early October we ran our first prayer Space of the academic year at Horsell Junior school for the Year 3’s. It was a fabulous time where children took time to stop and think about their ‘identity, hopes and dreams and forgiveness’.
At Woking College, we had our first Guest Speaker event which was during Black History Month. Rev Stephen Ansa-Addo gave a talk on both education and celebrating entitled ‘Black History & You’. This was attended by young people who attend Christian Union but also other across the college including staff. It was an opportunity to ask questions, discuss and understand where the Christian message sits on this topic.
We have also been blessed with support from Ryan of Orange Promotions. He has provided us with more hoodies and polo shirts as our Engage family grows. Thanks to Ryan the young people at schools can spot us easily enabling relationships to grow and conversations to start. It is always wonderful to partner with businesses that are just as passionate about sharing the Christian message.
The Harvest Assembly was delivered to primary schools in October telling the story of the feeding of the 5000, the children and teachers thoroughly enjoyed this. If you would like to watch it and see how the miracle happens, you can watch it on the Engage YouTube channel.
What will Engage do next?
We are getting ready to record and take out our Christmas Assembly…. watch out for this on YouTube. It will be telling the story of Christmas backwards.
There will be a Carol service at Woking College for all the staff and students before they finish for the Christmas holidays. Planning of our 25-year celebration service next year, date to be announced soon.
We are having a vision morning where we will be gathering to spend time together praying, discussing and listening to God and each other for the ministry of Engage and where God is leading us. We would appreciate your prayers for the team and the overarching ministry of Engage.
Get Involved!
Perhaps you could become a Trustee of Engage and help shape the future of our work.
Maybe you have a heart for taking the Christian message into secondary schools or Woking College and would like to join the Engage team in running Christian Union meetings.
There are endless possibilities –just some mentioned here! Whatever your skills and gifting and the amount of time you have available, we would love to hear as we plan for the challenges of the academic year ahead!
